Dave Dookie, B.Sc.,M.Sc., LL.M
Mr. Dookie has over 23 years of financial sector experience in the regional financial market. He has worked in senior management positions in Asset Management, Structuring and Advisory and Financial Consultancy. Dave began his career in Trinidad in 1999, attached to the Managing Director’s office at Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Limited. He worked in Commercial, Corporate and Merchant Banking as a member of the bank’s management team.
In 2000, he was a founding member of Caribbean Money Market Brokers, responsible for fixed income, structured products and derivative trading between 2000-2003. Subsequently, he had Group oversight at RBC Caribbean for Treasury management as the Group’s Investment Manager based in the Trinidad head office.
Dave was responsible for the establishment and management of 13 mutual funds at Guardian Asset Management. As Portfolio Manager, he managed the firm’s fund investments in North America, Europe, Asia, Pan Caribbean and BRIC countries. In 2010, he joined First Citizens Bank as Head of Structuring and Advisory and member of the Senior Management team. He closed structured deal transactions in excess of US$ 150 million that were sold to the regional client network. A significant achievement while at First Citizens was the successful M&A advisory transaction for the National Gas Company that led to the firm’s acquisition of Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited, a deal valued at US$ 550 million.
In 2017, Mr. Dookie was the founder of Waterloo Capital Advisors, a firm that specializes in investment management with a regional focus. Waterloo Capital has secured advisory deals and investment banking relationships with firms in North America, Bahamas, Cayman, Jamaica and Trinidad. As Managing Director, he has oversight of all the discretionary investment portfolios and corporate finance advisory transactions. He is a former Executive Director of the Securities Dealers Association of Trinidad and Tobago and also held a Principal license to operate in the Eastern Caribbean Securities Market.
He holds a Master’s degree in Finance with Merit from the University of London and B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Dave has been awarded with Merit, Master of Laws, (LL.M) degree by the University of Salford. In additional, he has completed the executive Investment Management programme at Harvard Business School.
